Decisions, decisions, decisions! We are always confronted with opportunities to decide one way or other. How do we make the best choice? Where do we get the right information?
God in His graciousness, has promised to give wisdom, to those who ask for it. This promise is found in James 1:5-8. “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith without any doubting…..”
God does not want us to go through life hoping against hope that we can find a good way. He has made His knowledge and wisdom available to those who will ask in faith. He wants us to succeed and to prosper. As a loving Father He knows how to guide His children. In the Lord’s Prayer Jesus teaches us to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” Jesus illustrated this when He prayed in the garden, “…….not my will, but yours be done.” Our focus in seeking wisdom for decision making is to be God’s will and His glory and not just our personal desires. When we seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness all the rest of what we need will be added to us. As a loving Father He knows how to give good gifts to His children when they ask. More that just knowing, He delights to bless His children as they focus their attention and affection on Him. It is recorded in the scripture that we have not because we ask not. We ask and don’t receive because we ask to consume it on our own selfish desires. Asking in His will always bring the best blessing.
God sent Jesus so that we might have life
and have it more abundantly.
